2019-20 Hall of Fame Inductees

2019 Inductees in the Sports Hall of Fame:

  • Dennis Anderson played for the Football team and Track & Field. He graduated in 1969 and went on to play both sports at Troy University. He has played semipro football and coached multiple high school sports and has earned 12 state championships.
  • Wayne Anderson played for Football, Basketball, and Track & Field. He was a center for the 1963 FHSAA State Basketball Championship team. After graduating in 1964, he continued his athletic career at Brevard Junior College where he earned Freshman of the Year. After college Mr. Anderson continued playing in semipro sports as well as coaching multiple basketball camps.
  • Storm Walker Kazmierczak  played Volleyball, where she earned Volusia County Player of the Year honors twice while gaining honors in All-Conference, All-Area and All-County. After graduating in 1998 she continued earning honors as a volleyball player for Jacksonville Community College and Embry-Riddle. She earned multiple NAIA honors including All-American Scholar Athlete.
  • Rodney Langston played Football, Basketball & Baseball at DeLand High. He was named most athletic by his classmates before graduating in 1979. He made honors in multiple sports but continued playing baseball at Brevard Community College where he set a hitting record before continuing at Stetson University where he played in the NCAA Regional Finals. He was drafted by the Orioles, Twins & Yankees.
  • Mitch Moyer played Baseball for DHS, and graduated in 1971. He earned Orange Belt Conference honor twice moving on to Seminole Community College, before working his way onto the Baseball team at Florida State when they went to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. After FSU he served as a graduate assistant at the University of Florida. After UF he moved to coach at Stetson then on to at DeLand High, where he eventually became principal for twenty years.        
  • Kathy “Mrs. Q” Quackenbush has been the Athletics Assistant for 20 years at DeLand High. She is an integral part of making sure Athletics runs smoothly. She works with setting schedules, setting up coaches meetings, athlete eligibility and paper work as well as a multitude of other tasks. She is the most visible person in the Athletics Office at DeLand and a go to for when athletes, parents and coaches need answers.
