Bio

Garon Keuten takes over as head coach of the Boys and Girls Bowling teams for the 2018-19 season from long-time teaching and coaching legend, Coach Jennifer Mitchell.  Coach Mitchell served as the Head Coach from 2006-09 and 2014-17.

Prior to the 2018-19 season, Coach Keuten served as the varsity defensive line coach for the DHS football team in 2016-17.  A Lincoln, Nebraska native, Coach Keuten graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences.  Before becoming a coach and teacher, Coach Keuten worked for Minor League Baseball Umpire Development (formerly PBUC) as a professional umpire from 2013-15 working in the Gulf Coast League and Appalachian League, as well as spring training with both the Mets and Tigers.

Coach Keuten still umpires local HS and college baseball, teaches in the science department at DHS, and lives in DeLand with his wife Amy (Seymour) Keuten and their dog Lola. Amy was a former state champion bowler at DHS and holds a sanctioned 804 series.
