Jay'lin Hastings Signs with UNC Greensboro
Recognition of Student-Athlete – Jay’lin Hastings
DeLand High was proud to host the signing of Jay’lin Hastings to the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She will be attending UNCG to play basketball for the Lady Spartans and to persue her education in Biomedical Engineering.
A little background on today’s honoree:
- Jay’lin was a 3-sport athlete while here at Deland High School.
- She played 4 years on the girls’ varsity basketball team, participated in track & field for 4 years and played volleyball for 4 years.
- Jay’lin has had several athletic achievements in basketball over her high school career being chosen MVP for 2017-18 and 2018-19. Jay’lin was also selected for the 1st team all-area by VFPreps in 2018.
- Jay’lin is an important member of the girls’ basketball team. She has led the team in scoring and rebounds the past two seasons.
- Jay’lin has carried a 3.5 weighted GPA.
Jay’lin was joined today by her Coaches, Damion Dunn & Robert Moore, Principal Dr. Melissa Carr, teammates, and a multitude of friends and family.
