Will Hennessy, 160, Places 5th at the Wrestling State Tournament!

The Wrestling 2016-17 Season has now come to an end but not before one of our Wrestlers, Will Hennessy, went to the two-day State Tournament. "DeLand senior Will Hennessy made the most of his first trip to states, wrestling a total of six matches and scoring a fifth-place finish in the 3A 160 bracket. Hennessy scored seven points in the second period of a 9-3 victory over Guervens Jean of Miami High.

"I'm tired, but I can't describe how I'm feeling. Just seeing four years of hard work finally paying off and realizing that I'm top-five in the state, it's incredible," said Hennessy, who improved to 39-11 over the weekend. "I improved my (ability on) top a lot. In that last match, I turned him twice. I couldn't hold someone for 5 seconds last year." (News Journal)
