Donta Harper Named as Girls Basketball Coach

Congratulations are in order for Donta Harper, our new leader of the Girls Basketball Program!!  Best of luck in your first season with the Bulldogs!!

Enjoy a brief bio to learn more about Donta!

Coach Harper was born and raised in Sanford, FL.  He is a 1999 graduate of Seminole High School, where he played football and basketball.  He also played AAU basketball for 4 years with Coach Spudd and received 2-defensive player awards and an MVP award for his efforts.

Beginning in 2002, Donta started in coaching, overseeing several successful youth football teams.  This culminated in him taking over the Deltona Wolves JV Football program from 2017 to 2019.

In 2020, Coach Harper was hired to lead the girls basketball program at Southwestern Middle School. He led the girls to an undefeated season in 2021, gaining the title of "The Best in the West" and becoming the District Champions.  He is to be commended for his years of service to the school and to the communities he has touched with his wisdom and campassion for youth.  His addition to the Bulldog athletic staff is certainly welcomed with open arms!

His coaching philosophy is simple, yet very impactful: "I just want to have a great group of young ladies that are willing to work hard on and off the court and that are inspired to be great leaders."
