Fox and Dawson awarded Champion of Character Scholarship

Over winter break Lindsay Fox and Quinn Dawson were awarded with the 2015 NAIA National Football Championship Game Champions of Character Student Athlete Scholarship Award. This scholarship award recognizes outstanding students who exemplify the core values of the Character Award; Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership. Lindsay and Quinn were invited to the awards luncheon last month and were each awarded with a $1,000 scholarship.

Lindsay Fox has shown her leadership in the classroom and the community. She is a four year honor roll student with a GPA of 4.25. Most of the classes that Lindsay has taken here at DHS have been Advanced Placement or Honors level. Miss Fox has lettered in Swim, Flag Football, and Cross Country. This past season she was named most valuable runner on DeLand's Cross Country Team. Lindsay's Coaches speak very highly of her dependability, responsibility and commitment to her teams and teammates. Despite Lindsay's busy school athletic schedule she finds time to help out at her church as well as volunteer at a yearly 5k run sponsored by Girls on the Run. She has also taken trips to Costa Rica an the Dominican Republic for missionary work.

DeLand Football Quarterback, Quinn Dawson is a leader on the field, in the classroom and in our community. Quinn's teachers speak very highly of his respect and responsibility in the classroom. This is also evident in being ranked 11th in this year’s senior class and his commitment to Yale last month. Mr. Dawson has lettered in Football for the past 3 years. His passion for sports is not only limited to Football, as he has lettered in Soccer, Basketball, and Weightlifting. Quinn's is a volunteer youth coach at the local YMCA, and helps the local pop warner team with filming games on Saturdays. He is also active with his church and youth group.
