DeLand sends 6 athletes to State Track Meet!!

Saturday May 8th marked a great day for DeLand High School athletics.  Six of our student athletes attended the state meet in Jacksonville over the weekend.  University of North Florida hosted the meet.

When you see the following athletes, please congratulate them on their achievements.

Kevar Williams- Set multiple school records on the season.  Won the 100m (10.40 sec.) and 200m (21.01 sec.)  individual races at the Regional Meet, breaking school records.  Won the State Championship in the 200m race and placed 7th in the 100m race.

Jordan Singletary- Competed in the 100m Hurdles event and finished 13th in the state with a time of 15.39 seconds

Jiya Hastings- Finished 16th in the state with a Long Jump of 16 Feet 1 Inch

4 X 400m Relay Team-  The following athletes attended the meet as the Region Champion, who broke the school record with a time of 3:21.24.  In a field full of stacked and historically great teams, our boys finished 10th with a time of 3 min. 24 sec., which is only 4 seconds off of the time of the 5th place team.
