Successful DeLand Cross Country Invitational ~ Great Job Everyone!

Successful DeLand Cross Country Invitational ~ Great Job Everyone!

The Bulldog Cross Country Teams kicked off competition this year by hosting the first meet of the season.  25 schools from around Central Florida brought nearly 800 athletes to Sperling Sports Complex on Saturday, August 25th.  The meet saw some outstanding individual performances from top runners in the state.  The Bulldog teams had a good showing as well.  The Lady Bulldogs, led by Madison Skelton and Annica Gaebel, had an impressive 7th place finish with three of the girls setting career personal bests already!  The Boys had an outstanding performance as well, finishing 14th while missing 4 of their top 7 runners.  The Boys were led by AJ Williams with an impressive 18:08 for the 5K distance.  Also incredible was the performance by newcomers Reece Marchand, Chance Hart, Richard Lee and Hunter Wilson who did very well in their first ever high school XC race!  The Bulldogs travel to Spruce Creek HS this Saturday for the Savanna & David Mohney Memorial Invitational meet.

Coach Lowenstein and Coach Madzik would like to thank our parents and community supporters for their volunteer work, the DHS Athletic Department and Administration for all their support, The City of DeLand for making Sperling Sports Complex one of the best XC venues around, and all the fans, athletes and coaches of the visiting teams who not only displayed gracious sportsmanship, but helped to keep the park clean and ready for the next events!  #WeAreDeLand!
